Who was Paul Gauguin ?

Often, people might have faced this question – Who was Paul Gauguin ?  He is a renowned French painter and artist belonging to the era of Post-Impressionism. He has been instrumental in bringing a new life to the modern art. The usage of wood extensively can be found in his works. He flourished as a painter during the 19th century and a made name for himself during the same time. The early years of Paul were spent in Peru. However, he migrated to France with the untimely death of his father. This is one of the reasons why most his works consist of Peruvian roots in one or the other form. Initially, he survived as a pilot assistant before dedicating his entire life to art.

As a child, Paul was full of energy and was always eager to learn new things. His penchant for art began since his childhood days and it grew stronger with the passage of time. Spending most of the time at art galleries has become his daily routine. Paul’s career took off when he became friend to Camille Pissarro, who was already an established artist by then. There used to exist several sessions between them related to art and the trends involved. In the midst, Paul has made a career shift by being a stockbroker too for some part of his life. However, his career did not last long as the destiny might have favored.

The influence of several art forms on Paul Gauguin has left an everlasting impression on his style. Nobody knew then that he would be famous and the question remained as it is - who was Paul Gauguin? During his entire life, he learnt almost all the art forms that are known internationally. The most notable ones of them are Indian Art, African Art and the Asian Art. No matter whichever art form it was, Paul used to learn it in a dedicated manner and used to produce works that used to leave even seasoned artists spellbound. Such was Paul’s acumen considering art. Perhaps, he is one of those rare artists who spent thinking about art till he breathed his last in 1903.
